We’re very pleased to introduce the newest member of Slow Travel Tours: GrapeHops, owned by Shannon Essa. Shannon is an American based in San Diego who spends as much time as possible in Europe, leading tours and continuing her personal explorations.
GrapeHops was founded in late 2009 and led its first tours in 2011. These small group tours focus on wine, craft beer, food, and culture. Upcoming trips will be based in the Piedmont area of northwest Italy and several areas of northwest Spain. Shannon is working on a new trip to Croatia for 2014. She also offers private, customized trips.
Shannon’s philosophy fits perfectly with Slow Travel Tours, and her interests and destinations are a great addition to our group. A former moderator for the Slow Travel website, she is the co-author of Chow Venice, a guide to eating and drinking in Venice. She worked in the wine industry for over 20 years, owned a catering company, and was co-owner of a restaurant. Shannon has been traveling in Europe for 15 years, spending time in 15 countries. She lived in Venice for a year. In addition to her work with GrapeHops, she now writes for Edible Santa Barbara magazine.
Shannon will be blogging for us on a regular basis, so watch for her posts beginning in March.
We welcome Shannon and GrapeHops to Slow Travel Tours!
