2025 Schedule of Artists
How did I curate the 2025 schedule of artists? Some of them, like Sue Spargo, I inherited when I took over the company. Sue has taught with Adventures in Italy more than any other teacher. She sees the magic in Orvieto and is always happy to return, just like me! Sue is on the schedule every year or two. The amazing project she shares is unique to Orvieto, combining her expertise with a local artisan.

Others, like Koosje Koene, I found through my own interests, taking a class on line or in person. I did both with Koosje and thought her teaching style and craft would be a perfect fit for Adventures in Italy.

Some teachers come to Orvieto as students first. Michelle Schratz took a class from Lorraine Bell (who took a class from Jacqueline Newbold) and one conversation led to another and here we are. Michelle taught in 2023 and we were both excited about offering another class.

Leslie Wood was recommended by a previous guest. Many of the people who choose to travel with Adventures in Italy are retreat connoisseurs and can offer valuable suggestions based on their own experiences. Leslie taught in 2023 and we had such a fun week that I invited her to return.

Sometimes I seek out teachers from art schools or magazines. I love the Stampington & Company Art Journaling magazine, and that’s how I found Gwen Lafleur. Her art seemed to reflect Orvieto already!

How do you choose a class to attend? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
