5 Italian Vacation Destinations for 2025
Lucca — Could I move to Lucca? Maybe — it’s just that lovely. This charming town in Tuscany is worth a day-trip from Florence or a couple of nights at one if its boutique hotels. You can reach Lucca easily by train from Florence. Or make Lucca your base and visit Florence for the day.
Orvieto — We went to Orvieto, in Umbria, last year with a fun group of women. I enjoyed the slower pace of this town and lazy afternoons on the piazza with our travelers. Umbria is much less touristy than Tuscany, and that’s a good thing. You could stay here three nights and just decompress. Plus, the duomo in the center of town is spectacular.
Sorrento — This bustling town is our base on the Amalfi Coast & Islands trips for women we lead in May. On a sunny day, there is no better view than the one over the water from our hotel. Heaven. Sorrento is right on the seaside which means you can swim if it’s warm enough. It also has excellent shopping and restaurants.
Naples — Historic, edgy, and right on the water. Naples is where you will likely fly in to see the Amalfi Coast or to visit Capri. We stay in Naples two nights on the Amalfi Coast tour for women, and if you’re traveling on your own, I encourage you to stay for at least one night and feel the Neapolitan vibe (plus eat some pizza). Choose a good hotel in a nice area when you stay in Naples and go out for dinner on the waterfront. You can also use Naples as a base to visit Pompeii.
Sicily — I visited Catania, Siracusa, and Taormina in 2024, and I hope to take a group to Sicily in 2026. Fingers crossed. Want Greek ruins outside of Greece? Siracusa is the best place to find them. I flew into Catania, but you could also fly into Palermo. If you haven’t seen the episodes of White Lotus set in Sicily, make sure to add them to your “must watch” list. You could join us on the Amalfi trip and then take a short flight down to Catania…just saying. ;-)
We are taking two groups of women to the Amalfi Coast in May 2025. Just think, five months from now you could be sipping a spritz on the terrace at our hotel in Sorrento.
