My First Trip to Orvieto
Back in 2013 I made my first trip to Orvieto, Italy to participate in a photography workshop with Adventures in Italy. Little did I know then this trip would be the start of a magical journey that changed the path of my life!

We had a group of mostly first-time visitors to Orvieto, including our teacher. Instruction was held in the library (I didn’t know until years later that there even WAS a classroom!) where we gathered to share, get inspiration and learn how to use photo apps to enhance our pictures.

Because we were learning about capturing what we see, we spent most days out exploring Orvieto. We visited the Necropolis, the local cemetery, and playing with capturing light and shadows at sunset.

Wandering during our free time we discovered a cute little jewelry store where they do custom bracelets. Almost everyone got one! Even on days when we had meals on our own most of us stayed together, we all got along so well.

Discovering Orvieto that first time was so amazing. Because it was also a photography retreat we took hundreds of pictures, some of my favorites still come from that first trip.

A couple of years later I returned to Orvieto and that’s when this crazy plan was hatched for me to take over the business from the original owners. You know the expression, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” Well for me nothing was “broke” so I kept things pretty much the same when I took over. It’s just now over a few years of hosting guests that I’ve started to change things. I want everyone to have the same kind of experience I did that first time, finding this magical town of Orvieto that tugs at your soul and makes you have to return!
