As we welcome in the new year we turn to planning for the busy 2022 ahead. Maintenance and upgrades this winter continue aboard the Randle with the throwing out of the gas cooker and the fitting of a new electric induction hob and electric oven as part of our upgrades and decarbonisation process.
It is not every day that my walk to my local boulangerie is featured in the National Geographic, also featured, Auxerre cathedral, Joigny, and the vineyards of Chablis, all of which feature in our private guided tours of Burgundy by boat, car, and bicycle.
The Rue de l’Yonne as featured in National Geographic dates from the Middle Ages and is part of the old merchant boatmen’s quarter of Auxerre. Before the advent of reliable roads the river Yonne was the main thoroughfare between Auxerre and Paris, to learn more about this fascinating river please click the link to our Diner’s River Cruise.
Auxerre Cathédrale de Saint-Étienne dates from 1215 and was visited by Jeanne d’Arc in 1429
Our private charter river trip also passes through Joigny on the banks of the Yonne, GMW Turner sketched here in 1802 and it also features the two-star Michelin restaurant la Cóte Saint Jacques with river mooring, a real treat for both the eyes and taste buds together.
No trip to Burgundy would be complete without a trip to the famous vineyards of Chablis. Take a private guided tour to the vineyards and enjoy a wine tasting at a winery in town.
