Travel to Paint – What’s It Like?
Travel to Paint – What’s It Like? Is a question I often hear.
My best answer is that it is transformative! Taking the chance to travel to paint to places once unknown has actually directed and formed my personal and artistic life in ways I could have never anticipated.

“Painting at the Famous Beach in Villefranche-sur-Mer”

“Focused in Maine”
Travel to Paint to see the world in an intense and focused way:
This is the epitome of slow travel in that you must stay in one spot for several hours and truly look, listen, smell, and feel the world around you. I have such vivid memories of actual painting experiences in many locations especially in Italy and France. I have also benefited from returning to these now familiar locations and painting well loved scenes repeatedly. They become part of your inner world and give you a rich inner landscape to visit whenever you like.

“Artist Friends Are the Best!”

“Friends Who Travel and Paint Together, Stay Together!”

“Shared Experiences are the Quickest Way to Lasting Friendships!”
Travel to Paint to make New Friends:
The people I have encountered and gotten to know who are fellow artists and travelers have so enriched my personal life! I love knowing people from all over the USA who I have met and painted with during my 30 years of Plein air painting. These are people with whom I have an “Art Connection” and an immediate common ground that supersedes many other categories such as culture, politics, age, race, gender, and more.

“The Privilege of Meeting Wonderful People is a Joy of Travel to Paint”
Also, the people who you are able to get to know in your host painting locations are wonderful and eventually provide a knowing and comfort that makes it a joy to return over and over to favorite locations.

Travel to Paint is so much more that sight seeing:
I personally love the structure of traveling to paint as it forms the purpose of my travels. Later, when I am reading a book, watching a movie, listening to the news, studying history or current events, my mind often fills in the blanks with my personal knowledge and experience of historic and famous locations. It is incredibly enriching and truly memorable.

“Becca Created a Gorgeous Memory of Her Day in Camden, Maine”

“Deborah is in the Renoir Zone in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France”

“Ellie and Ginny in Fabulous California”
Travel to Paint to exponentially grow
in your painting skills and artistic journey:
Painting on location is immersive and sustained. It forces you to proceed ahead quickly in uncharted painting territory. It gives you time away from your normal and regular cares, tasks, worries, and responsibilities and allows you to focus and experiement. At its best, Plein air painting can give you a break from self judgement and a chance to enjoy the new that will emerge.

“Julie in a Perfect Painting Spot”

“Painting the Famous Florence Duomo from the Beautiful Bardini Garden”

“Hannah Found the Perfect Vantage Point for Plein Air Painting”
Travel to Paint with other artists:
When you are surrounded by other artists and creatives who value variety and self expression it is truly encouraging and uplifting. During a Painting Workshop you have the time, the focus, the comraderie, the inspiration, and the will to get out there and put brush to paper and see what happens next! It’s a blast! We learn from each other and cheer each other on!

“Katherine Trying New Techniques in Maine”
Travel to Paint – What’s It Like?
It allows you to see the world in an intense and focused way, make new friends, enrich your inner world, and exponentially grow your artistic life.
