Traveling to Paint: Introduction and Opportunities
Traveling to Paint
After being a member of Slow Travel Tours for a year, I thought it would be a good time to Introduce myself and describe a bit about my career as an artist and what I do to share my passion for traveling to paint.

I create and lead painting trip workshops.
My career for the past 30 years has been built around my unique watercolor, mixed media, and oil paintings. I have traveled all over the south and east USA showing and selling my work at numerous outdoor art festivals. This involves driving a large cargo van, setting up my art tent and display, meeting and interacting with thousands of art lovers and curious people, and talking about and selling my paintings. It has suiting my personality and affinities and abilities perfectly and has provided a successful career as an artist. Every sale motivates and enables me to keep painting! And to keep traveling!

Thirty years ago I took the chance and opportunity to travel to the South of France and participate in a two week Plein Air Painting Workshop. It changed, formed, and enriched beyond measure my life and my career in countless wonderful ways, most I could never have anticipated.
Since then I have traveled extensively alone, with others, and now leading others, to France, Italy, and England, and other destinations to paint on location. There is nothing better for an artist’s growth and expression than Plein air painting!

Wonderful mother-daughter experience.
Traveling to paint is worth all the effort it takes. I love sharing the truly premier painting spots I have discovered through much explorations with workshop participants. I am always scouting out something beautiful and indicative to create a top notch experience for artists.

My approach when leading groups and teaching painting, is to create an inclusive, encouraging, fun, and enriching group and experience.

Wonderful small group of artists painting in Tuscany
Each person goes at their own pace with the painting and learns mostly from doing. I guide the group, and meet individuals where they are in their painting journey, helping them find the next step.
I am continually amazed at the abilities expressed and the beautiful paintings made by each person in the workshop. Even complete novices come away with particular and lovely paintings that can be cherished and enjoyed forever.

Happy Artist with her Tuscany paintings.
We also enjoy cultural and historical outings with an art focus. Solo travelers as well as friends or couples enjoy the comradery of other artistically oriented folks and many new friendships are made.

Artists completely immersed in Plein air painting.

Please consider joining me this year in Vence France – one room available – or in Owl’s Head, Maine – a few spots available.
